A 23-year-old woman has been charged with creating a false alarm at a university in Utah by falsely claiming there was an active shooter, officials said.
According to charging documents, Alyssa Melanie Foreman ran through the UCCU Event Center at Utah Valley University on Nov. 28, shortly before 4 p.m., yelling that there was an active shooter.
Witnesses reported that she ran through, telling people to hide both in a restaurant and outside.
Court documents state that Foreman continued shouting about an active shooter, even hiding behind bushes and calling for help. Police responded after receiving multiple calls about Foreman's behavior.
Despite her claims, no actual active shooter or matching individuals were found after an investigation.
