BREAKING: A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction Thursday to temporarily prevent one of the strictest immigration bills in the country from going into effect in Texas on March 5. The law, known as SB 4, would authorize local and state law enforcement to arrest migrants they suspect crossed into the state illegally.  It would also also give judges the power to order migrants to be transported to a port of entry and returned to Mexico regardless of their country of origin.

A middle school student was arrested Wednesday after a loaded gun was found inside their backpack. According to JPS, the gun was discovered during dismissal at Peeples Middle School. Campus enforcement promptly intervened, JPS said in a statement Thursday, and apprehended the student who has since been arrested. The student now faces criminal charges. “We urge parents to discuss this incident with their children and stress that it is illegal to bring any type of weapon to school,” JPS wrote.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said a teen is in custody after a gun was found in his possession at school on Thursday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, around 9 a.m., a school resource officer at Tanglewood Middle School was made aware that an anonymous tip came through the See Something, Say Something tip line providing information that a student was in possession of a gun. Law enforcement and school staff made contact with the student and a stolen and unloaded gun was found in his backpack. Deputies said they have not received any information that any threats were made.  The motive for why the student was in possession of a gun is not immediately clear. Police, paramedics and fire crews are responding to an incident at a high school in Stockport.  Emergency services have been scrambled to Cheadle Hulme High School on Woods Lane. Officers from GMP descended on the school at around 2.40pm this afternoon (March 29) after reports of a 'suspicious package.' It later transpired to contain 'paint,' the forced said. ‼️Update: The female passenger from this mornings incident has been located by deputies.  She was found near the scene and is being evaluated by medics for prolonged exposure to the cold.  A Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff is in stable condition this morning after being shot during an overnight pursuit.   The vehicle being pursued was occupied by a suspect involved in an active disturbance that the deputy was responding to.  When the vehicle stopped the male suspect, Nathan Oxley fired multiple shots at the Deputy as he was exiting his patrol car.  One of the rounds fired by Oxley struck the Deputy.   Oxley is in custody and facing multiple charges including attempted murder of a police officer and malicious wounding.

French President Emmanuel Macron opened the door on Monday to European nations sending troops to Ukraine, although he cautioned that there was no consensus at this stage. “The very fact of discussing the possibility of sending certain contingents to Ukraine from NATO countries is a very important new element,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked about Macron’s remarks. Asked by reporters about the risks if NATO members sent their troops to fight in Ukraine, Peskov said: “In that case, we would need to talk not about the probability, but about the inevitability (of a direct conflict).” Peskov said that the West should ask themselves if such a scenario was in the interests of their countries and their peoples.

First Coast High School is on lockdown due to “a report of a possible firearm on campus,” Duval County Public Schools said. Unofficial information said one person reported shot.  Speculation of death of 2 with the person shot included.  Person shot was a girl.  And the shooter is missing.  They can't find the shooter. An active-duty member of the US Air Force set himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, on Sunday, according to the Air Force and local authorities. He is critically injured after the tragic incident.  He said he would "no longer be complicit in genocide" before the apparent protest. An attack on a Hezbollah truck in the Jadida-Yabus area, near the Syria-Lebanon border, resulted in 2 deaths of Hezbollah members. Hezbollah announces the deaths of two members killed "on the road to Jerusalem," its term for operatives slain in Israeli strikes. They are named as Hussein al-Dirani from Qsarnaba and Ahmed al-Afi from Brital, two towns in the Baalbek District, close to the Syrian border. Their deaths bring the terror group's toll since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip to 214. The announcement comes following reports of two Hezbollah members killed in an alleged Israeli strike on a truck on the Syrian-Lebanon border, near the town of Qusayr. Hezbollah does not provide further information on where the two members were slain.

The Eagle Grove Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation responded to a shooting incident on South Lucas Avenue just after 2:30 a.m. One man is dead after a shooting incident overnight in Eagle Grove, the police department said in a release. Law enforcement claims there is no ongoing threat to the public.  The deceased man's name has not yet been released. 

BCSO is on the scene of a shooting incident in Sanderson.  A large crowd was having a party at US 90 and CR 229 when shots were fired.  Deputies are present and have detained five individuals involved.  No one was injured in the shooting. CR 127 at the railroad crossing will be closed for some time.  This investigation is on-going and no further details will be released at this time.

Traffic is restored on Monroe Avenue after a police investigation earlier tonight into possible gunfire.  Police ask anyone with information to call 911.   A portion of Monroe Avenue has reopened after being blocked off for a police investigation into possible gunfire and a fight.
