Developing: Authorities responding to apparent barricade in Waikiki, Hawaii

Update: The male was taken into custody. No injuries were reported. Roads in the area have been reopened.

Update:

Patrol officers were called to the Waikki Sunset Hotel this afternoon after a male guest confronted a hotel employee who had been sent to his room.

The male had what appeared to be a knife and has barricaded himself in the room.

The specialized services division is at the scene.

Multiple reports are coming in about an active incident in Waikiki, Hawaii where security agencies a responding to the situation.

Initial reports said it is an ongoing criminal situation unfolding.

It is an ongoing barricade situation.

Images from the scene showed a heavy police presence outside of the building.

The Honolulu Police Department released the following statement:

"Paoakalani Avenue in Waikiki is closed for a barricade incident. Please avoid the area or use alternate streets"

Diamond View Briefly Locked Down While Police Investigate Threat

There were some scary moments Wednesday morning for Diamond View School students, staff and parents, after the Susanville Police Department received a report of a student who may have brought a firearm to school’s campus, which was immediately placed on a ‘lockdown status.’ “Officers arrived and met with the school principal, who identified the student,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bengoa-Bollinger. “It was learned no gun was ever observed, and it was a ‘statement’ that had been overheard by the reporting students while on the bus to school this morning.” School officials and officers contacted the student away from the other children and found no firearm in the student’s possession.
