In a concerning development, officers in south-west London are reaching out to the public for assistance in locating 16-year-old Julia Skala, who has been missing for over a week. Julia reportedly left her home in Mitcham at approximately 13:00hrs on Monday, January 8, wearing a black North Face jacket, black trousers, and white Nike trainers. She was carrying a black Nike rucksack.
The teenager was reported missing the following morning, triggering an immediate investigation. Over the past eight days, officers have conducted extensive enquiries, including recovering CCTV footage from the area and conducting house-to-house visits in an effort to trace Julia's movements.
Superintendent Josh Laughton, from the local policing team in south-west London, expressed growing concerns about Julia's welfare, stating, "While there’s no evidence to suggest she has come to harm, we are growing increasingly concerned about her welfare."
Julia has links to Lambeth, Camden, and Islington, and it is believed she may have traveled by public transport. The lack of any indication regarding her whereabouts has heightened the urgency of the appeal.
Superintendent Laughton urged anyone who may have seen Julia over the past week to come forward immediately. Immediate sightings can be reported by calling 999 and quoting the reference 24MIS000879. Those with non-urgent information can contact the police at 101.
