Officers shot and killed a man as he allegedly charged at them while armed with a "bladed weapon" early Tuesday morning, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Dispatch got a report around 12:41 a.m. about a suicidal person in the 2500 block of S. Eastern Avenue, near Sahara Avenue, LVMPD said in a statement.
Officers found a man who was armed with an "edged, bladed weapon," and they tried using less-lethal options to disarm him.
The man charged at the officers, and two officers opened fire, hitting the man, according to LVMPD. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
No officers were injured. The officers who opened fire will be identified in 48 hours, in keeping with department policy.
A full press briefing on the shooting is also expected to be held later this week.
