A United Airlines flight headed to Los Angeles had to be diverted to Chicago after leaving New Jersey Wednesday due to a safety issue
The FAA said Flight 1533 landed safely at Chicago O'Hare International Airport around 7:40 a.m. local time after the crew reported a security issue.
A passenger on the flight posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that someone allegedly went into the bathroom and made a bomb threat on the bathroom window.
They added everyone on board was forced to leave their bags on the plane.
"There is no indication that there is an imminent threat to public safety or the facility itself at this time."
"The flight landed safely, was met by local law enforcement and departed for Los Angeles again later in the afternoon," a statement from United Airlines said.
