The Smokehouse Creek fire that started North of Stinnett two days ago is now the second largest fire in Texas History.
It has also been updated to 500,000 acres at this time.
Extreme fire behavior in the #texas panhandle overnight has forced evacuations of entire towns, cut off water supplies to firefighters on the ground and charred the 2nd largest area in Texas #wildfire history (data goes back to 1988).
TAKE A LOOK at this fire in the Texas Panhandle.🔥 The Smokehouse Creek Fire has burned more than 300,000 acres spanning across Texas and Oklahoma, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
Gov. Abbott issued a disaster declaration for 60 counties and activated additional state emergency resources to support firefighters responding to the wildfires.

After spending 24 of the last 36 hours on the fire line, I can say there are "heros" among us.
Your Perryton crew saved this house on North river road!(roberts county). 1) established a safe place inside the perimeter. (short grass and gravel).
And waited for the fire to roll over them.
While maintaining a fog stream for there protection! Est. 500,000 acres.
Forth Worth Fire Department said "15 firefighters with the Fort Worth Fire Department have deployed to the #SmokehouseCreekFire in Hutchinson County (in the Texas Panhandle). Currently, there are 500,000 acres burning with 0% containment.
8 firefighters deployed with the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), 5 deployed with Texas A&M Task Force 1, and 2 deployed with Texas Task Force 2.
Our crews brought with them 2 #FWFD brush trucks and 1 #FWFD pickup truck.
They will be there for possibly 14 days. And will rotate, if needed. These specialized and highly trained crews are joining hundreds of other firefighters working around the clock to contain these incredibly dangerous fires.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents affected by wildfire and for the safety of the crews.
