There is no other place for Gazans to go, AOC laments as Netanyahu directs military to prepare to evacuate over 1 million Palestinians from southern Gaza city of Rafah
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is going ahead with the ground ivation of the city of RaFah in Gaza despite warning from many countries including the U.S. and other Israel allies not to do so.
CNN reports that Netanyahu directs military to prepare to evacuate over 1 million Palestinians from southern Gaza city of Rafah ahead of a ground operation.
The city of Rafah has close to 1.4 Million Palestinian refugees and Hamas condemned Israel move for ground operation in the city.
When asked "There's an estimated 1.4 million people in that area right now. And as the German foreign minister said, 'They can't just disappear.' Where are they supposed to go?
In an effort to justify attacking Rafah, Netanyahu said "Those who say that under no circumstances should we enter Rafa are basically saying, lose the war, keep Hamas there."
"We are going to move them to north of Rafah, where we have cleared"
Also Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said "There is no other place for Gazans to go.
Clearing Rafah is not war, it is not defense, it is an outright attack on the innocent.
This is the moment for the United States to act. We must exhaust the levers we have to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the making."
The imminent attack on Rafah has the potential of widening the scope of the war as Egypt warned that any attack on Rafah by Israel is an attack on Egypt and the Arab nations.
Egyptian Secretary-general, Hamdeen Sabahi:
"All of Egypt does not accept the aggression against Rafah, which is considered an aggression against Egypt.
If the Israeli army launches an aggression against Rafah, it will be an aggression against the Egyptian will.
The entry of the occupation army into Rafah will constitute a violation of the Camp David agreement.
Egypt will not accept any more aggression and bloodshed in Palestinian Rafah.
Al-Aqsa flood is not a response to Israeli aggression, but rather an attack on an Arab initiative.
All settlements in northern Palestine were abandoned due to the intensity of attacks carried out by Hezbollah.
The displacement of settlements in northern Palestine is evidence of the termination of the security contract between the army of the occupation and the settlers.
The legacy of resistance enabled Hezbollah to gain a position in the Arab conscience.
The role that Yemen played in this battle transferred the conflict to its international and global extent.
What the resistance is doing in Iraq and the American reaction to it confirms our ability to neutralize the major powers."
France also condemned the displacement of Palestinians.
FRENCH FM,Gabriel Attal said "We reject any forced displacement of the residents of the Gaza Strip.
The situation in Gaza is tragic, and there are urgent needs for the residents of the Strip.
The Gaza Strip must belong to the future Palestinian state.
I started a tour in the Middle East with the aim of reaching a ceasefire in Gaza."
Germany also condemned Israel move to relocate Palestinians, German FM: “We reject in the strongest terms the unhelpful statements of Israeli government ministers regarding the displacement of the population of Gaza. The Palestinians should not be expelled from Gaza, nor should the area of the Strip be reduced.”
Haman also warned that by invading the city of Rafah, Israel is committing widespread and horrific massacres.
Below is the official statement by Hamas:
HAMAS STATEMENT ON RAFAH ATTACK
“In light of the statements of the leaders of the Nazi occupation, declaring their intention to expand their ongoing brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip to include the city of Rafah, which is crowded with our displaced people, we warn of the danger of the occupation committing widespread and horrific massacres in the city of Rafah, which contains more than 1.4 million displaced Palestinian citizens, living in poor conditions. Harsh humanity as a result of the continued aggression and the brutal terrorist crimes of the occupation.
The American administration’s position of not supporting the attack on Rafah does not absolve it of full legal and political responsibility for the consequences of this attack and the resulting massacres of children, women, and defenseless civilians. It provides the occupation with open support with the weapons with which the Palestinian people are killed around the clock.
We call on the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations Security Council to take urgent and serious action to prevent the occupation and its neo-Nazi leaders from committing genocide in the city of Rafah with the aim of displacing our Palestinian people, whose steadfastness, sacrifices and adherence to their land have thwarted the goals of the Nazi occupation.”
