US President Joe Biden and Jordan's King Abdullah kept up pressure for a Gaza Strip ceasefire as senior mediators were to resume work on an Israel-Hamas truce agreement, with the threat of an Israeli ground offensive looming in Rafah.
Jordan's King Abdullah, in a White House Address with President Joe Biden, urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza, warning that an Israeli attack on Rafah would result in another humanitarian catastrophe.
"“Seven decades of occupation, death, and destruction have proven beyond any doubt that there can be no peace without a political horizon.”
Jordan's King Abdullah II urged for immediate action to secure a "lasting ceasefire" in Gaza during a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden at the White House on Monday.
King Abdullah also said, "We cannot afford an Israeli attack on Rafah. It is certain to produce another humanitarian catastrophe."
President Joe Biden has welcomed Jordan's King Abdullah II to the White House for talks on how to end the months-long war in Gaza and plan for what comes afterward.
Biden said "I'm grateful for partners and allies like King Abdullah II who work with us every day to advance security and stability across the Middle East and beyond.
In difficult times like these, the bonds between our nations are more important than ever."
