A neighborhood dispute escalated into a stabbing and a deadly shooting in Flint Township late Thursday, police say.
The Flint Township Police Department says officers responded to the 3000 block of Ridgecliffe Drive around 11 p.m. for a fight involving two men, who are neighbors.
Before officers arrived on the scene, they received word that a 30-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound during the altercation. Officers found a 38-year-old man suffering from a stab wound when they arrived.
Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures on the 30-year-old, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. An ambulance rushed the 38-year-old to an area hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery Thursday night.
The 38-year-old was listed in stable condition Friday morning, police say.
Investigators did not release any information about what sparked the fight among neighbors or how it escalated into violence. Reports will be forwarded to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office when the investigation is complete.
