Boeing whistleblower John Barnett's attorneys on his suicide news: "We didn't see any indication he would take his own life. No one can believe it."
The family of the Boeing whistleblower who was found dead is blaming the company for his death.
62-year-old John Barnett died on March 9 of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, but his family says a "hostile work environment" is to blame.
A former quality manager for the company, John Barnett had been in Charleston, South Carolina, for a deposition in a lawsuit in which he accused Boeing of retaliation.
John Barnett's body was found by officers on Saturday morning in a vehicle parked outside a Holiday Inn with "a silver hand gun in his right hand," according to police in Charleston, South Carolina.
Barnett worked for Boeing for 32 years until his retirement in 2017. He had been actively involved in litigation against the company.
Authorities said the investigation is still active.
