#Breaking: Major Brush / Wildland Fire: Large incident forestry fires threatening structures in Bergton area, #Virginia

BHS: Due to the wild fire in the Bergton/Criders area, Bus 222 is not able to make the full afternoon run. If your house is past Bergton Road on Route 259, they are unable to be dropped off. BHS students will be in the Lecture Room until they are picked up.

Fire is Spreading Near Residential Structure and a local Airport.

Reported cause was a downed power lines pole.

Significant Firefighter response to the area.

A junk pile is also currently burning and could cause the fire to jump the road containment.

Fire is currently spreading and is wind driven as a junk pile containing tires is also ablaze with reports that the fire has now jumped the local road.

Bulldozers and extra tankers are coming being called to the scene.

Active situation with more spot fires reported.

Multiple Wildfires reported County wide with utility poles/wires down.

Diamond View Briefly Locked Down While Police Investigate Threat

There were some scary moments Wednesday morning for Diamond View School students, staff and parents, after the Susanville Police Department received a report of a student who may have brought a firearm to school’s campus, which was immediately placed on a ‘lockdown status.’ “Officers arrived and met with the school principal, who identified the student,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bengoa-Bollinger. “It was learned no gun was ever observed, and it was a ‘statement’ that had been overheard by the reporting students while on the bus to school this morning.” School officials and officers contacted the student away from the other children and found no firearm in the student’s possession.
