U.S. Senate approves $1.2 trillion spending bill, ending risk of government shutdown.
After a last-minute agreement, the bill was approved by a vote of 74-24, just two hours after the deadline for its approval expired.
Schumer: "It's no small feat to get a package like this done in divided government. These past few months have shown yet again that when bipartisanship has room to work, we can get the job done."
