An Evansville man is facing charges of theft and residential entry after police say he went inside a stranger's home on Sunday.
Officers responded to a burglary at a home on Idlewild Drive on Sunday night just before 10 p.m.
EPD says the victim called 911 and said that someone was trying to break in through the front door, and that they eventually got in through their basement door.
Officers arrived at the scene and they say they found 28-year-old Devin Molock coming around to the front of the home.
When officers detained Molock, they say he wasn't making any sense and told them he didn't know why he was at the home or how he got there.
EPD says Molock was wearing a Popeyes Chicken uniform but that he said he hadn't worked that day and believed he was an hour away from his work. However, police say Popeye's was only about a block north of the scene of the crime.
Police talked to the victims, who told them that they had no idea who Molock was and that he didn't have any reason to be there.
According to EPD, Molock was seen on camera taking the victim's sweater out of a crate and putting it on during the incident.
Police noted that Molock has a prior conviction for theft from December of 2023.
Molock was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
