A Sterling Heights woman who suffered multiple stab wounds in what Sterling Heights Police are calling a domestic incident died from her injuries Sunday. Her unborn child also did not survive.
Sterling Heights Police Lt. Mario Bastianelli said officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at an address on 18 Mile Road in the Sterling Park Apartments complex at approximately 3 a.m. March 24.
“When officers arrived, they discovered blood in the hallway but no one was inside the apartment in question,” Bastianelli said.
A short time later, Clinton Township Police received a 911 call to 35756 Harper Avenue reporting a male converted in blood.
Officers arrived and located the suspect as well as a pregnant female who appeared to have been stabbed multiple times. The female was transported to a local hospital where she and her unborn child both succumbed to their injuries. Police say the woman appeared to be about 30 years old.
The male suspect was taken into custody.
Sterling Heights Police said this is an ongoing homicide investigation and that anyone with information is asked to contact the Sterling Heights Detective Bureau at 586-446-2825.
