A361 Taw Bridge blocked in Barnstaple after incident

A major A-road in North Devon has been blocked by an incident this afternoon (April 23). The A361 in Barnstaple is partially blocked both ways following reports of an incident on Taw Bridge.

Huge delays have been reported through Barnstable on the A361, as well as surrounding roads. Google Maps is showing congestion to Braunton Road, Rolle Street, North Road, and the A39.

Traffic monitor Inrix reports: "A361 Taw Bridge in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to traffic problem from Braunton Road Junction to Sticklepath Junction."

"Police were called just before 3.50pm on Tuesday 23 April following concern for the welfare of a teenage girl on Taw Bridge, Barnstaple.Officers attended alongside the ambulance service.The girl was brought safely from the road and left in the hands of support workers.Police were clear from the scene just after 5pm."

Diamond View Briefly Locked Down While Police Investigate Threat

There were some scary moments Wednesday morning for Diamond View School students, staff and parents, after the Susanville Police Department received a report of a student who may have brought a firearm to school’s campus, which was immediately placed on a ‘lockdown status.’ “Officers arrived and met with the school principal, who identified the student,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bengoa-Bollinger. “It was learned no gun was ever observed, and it was a ‘statement’ that had been overheard by the reporting students while on the bus to school this morning.” School officials and officers contacted the student away from the other children and found no firearm in the student’s possession.
