Shocking video was released showing a disturbing incident at a Georgia jail.
In the video, Tremar Harris, who was an inmate at Appling County Jail, has a long chain from a set of cuffs wrapped around his neck.
Harris is seen restrained to a chair in a small room at the jail while surrounded by four detention officers.
The video is part of a civil rights lawsuit that was filed against the correctional officers this week in a federal court in Brunswick, Georgia.
Attorneys for Harris released the video. William Rentz was identified as the jail guard who wrapped the "chain of an unused leg restraint" across Harris' neck, according to attorneys for Harris.
Harris was a pre-trial detainee in solitary confinement at the jail in 2022.
Rentz was reportedly fired after he was arrested by Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
He was charged with aggravated assault, battery, and violation of oath of office last month.
Attorneys with the case asked the Department of Justice to look into the incident as well.
An investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the officer could have caused serious injury or death to Harris.
