Fulton High School,KNOXVILLE, Tenn. goes on brief lockdown after teen makes threat

The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) has provided further insights into the events that prompted a lockdown at Fulton High School on Tuesday, shedding light on a concerning situation that unfolded within the school's vicinity.

According to Communications Manager Scott Erland, KPD School Resource Officers swiftly responded to the school premises following reports of a threatening call directed towards a student around 11:30 a.m. The nature of the call, which indicated an intent to cause harm, prompted immediate action from law enforcement personnel, underscoring the critical role of school security protocols in safeguarding student well-being.

The suspect in question, identified as a 16-year-old male, was swiftly located and detained by officers in close proximity to the school grounds. Despite earlier assertions suggesting the suspect's status as a student at Fulton High School, Erland clarified that this was not the case, dispelling initial concerns regarding potential internal threats. Diamond View Briefly Locked Down While Police Investigate Threat

There were some scary moments Wednesday morning for Diamond View School students, staff and parents, after the Susanville Police Department received a report of a student who may have brought a firearm to school’s campus, which was immediately placed on a ‘lockdown status.’ “Officers arrived and met with the school principal, who identified the student,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bengoa-Bollinger. “It was learned no gun was ever observed, and it was a ‘statement’ that had been overheard by the reporting students while on the bus to school this morning.” School officials and officers contacted the student away from the other children and found no firearm in the student’s possession.
