Livonia, MI - At Holmes Middle School in Livonia, students were temporarily locked in their classrooms yesterday after a student handed a gun to a staff member.
The incident prompted a brief "hold in place" safety protocol, where students and staff remained in classrooms while hallways were cleared.
Principal Roger Opsommer informed parents that the situation was addressed without any threat to students, staff, or the school.
The gun was secured immediately and handed over to school security and the Livonia Police Department, which is currently managing the situation along with school administration.
Additional support, including school social workers, will be available to assist students.
