Two people charged after incident at carnival at Weymouth High School

Two people were charged after an incident at a carnival in Weymouth High School that prompted the cancellation of the event.

Witnesses who were at the event last night said that a massive fight broke out, prompting a stampede of people running away in fear.

Weymouth police said of the two men being charged, one was arrested, taken into custody and has posted bail. The other is a juvenile so they were not taken to the station.

Around a dozen cruisers, a fire truck and an ambulance could be seen responding to the incident at the Weymouth Spring Carnival, which is being held at the High School.

The family-friendly event, run by Fiesta Shows, has over 15 rides, games and food.

The company released a statement saying that “For generations, we have prided ourselves in creating a family-friendly environment and the safety of our guests is our top priority. We feel bad for the good citizens and families of Weymouth that were enjoying their time at the carnival when this occurred.”

“It was just a little scuffle with a few people, some kids got a little over excited and had a little battle out there and the crowd seen it and just started running back and forth.” said one of the carnival workers.

Weymouth officials have yet to comment on the incident.

Diamond View Briefly Locked Down While Police Investigate Threat
