#DEVELOPING: A 20-year-old man shot in Evanston, Illinois Wednesday afternoon, prompting a large police presence and street closures

SHOTS FIRED UPDATE:

EPD responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Foster & Ashland at 4:50 p.m. Upon their arrival, they located a GSW victim, a male 20 YOA.

Victim was treated & transported to an area hospital. Victim reported in stable condition. The motive is presently unknown, but the initial investigation indicates this is not a random act. The investigation also indicates that the offender(s) have fled the area and are no longer in Evanston.

There does not appear to be a continued threat to the public, but please avoid the area of Foster & Ashland. There will be police presence and street closures as the investigation continues.

Diamond View Briefly Locked Down While Police Investigate Threat

There were some scary moments Wednesday morning for Diamond View School students, staff and parents, after the Susanville Police Department received a report of a student who may have brought a firearm to school’s campus, which was immediately placed on a ‘lockdown status.’ “Officers arrived and met with the school principal, who identified the student,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bengoa-Bollinger. “It was learned no gun was ever observed, and it was a ‘statement’ that had been overheard by the reporting students while on the bus to school this morning.” School officials and officers contacted the student away from the other children and found no firearm in the student’s possession.
