HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION: Police have arrested the suspect responsible for killing a 41-year-old Rapid City woman.
At around 3:45 a.m. on May 12th, police were dispatched to 3276 Cambell Street for a report of a vehicle that had just been stolen. On arrival at the address, police located the driver who stated he was a driver for a rideshare service. The driver had recently picked up a rider, later identified as 35-year-old Cole Younger of Rapid City, and drove him to 1600 Sedivy Lane. Once they arrived at the address, Younger exited the vehicle, entered the building at the address, and emerged a short time later. The driver then took Younger to 3276 Cambell Street. On arrival at the convenience store, Younger brandished a knife and told the driver the exit the vehicle. A Pennington County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the vehicle a short time later driving eastbound on Catron Boulevard. A traffic stop was initiated the vehicle came to a stop in the area of Highway 79 and Old Folsom Road. Younger was ordered out of the vehicle and detained in handcuffs. Younger was placed under arrest for First Degree Robbery and Driving without a Valid License prior to transport to the Pennington County Jail.
Then, at around 11:00 a.m. on May 12th, police were dispatched to 1313 N. Lacrosse Street for a report of an unresponsive female that was located in a room at the address. On arrival, police determined the female was obviously deceased with a laceration to her neck. She has been identified as 41-year-old Brandi Snowfly of Rapid City. Based on information garnered in the investigation, police determined Snowfly entered the hotel with Cole Younger (the suspect mentioned in the above robbery call). After a period of time, Younger then exited the hotel prior to summoning the rideshare service. As a result, First Degree Murder has been added to Younger’s offences and he remains in custody at the Pennington County Jail. It is believed Younger and Snowfly were known to each other prior to her death, and police have no reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety as a result of this incident.
The investigation into this homicide is being conducted jointly between the RCPD and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
