πΊ Locations affected include Dawesville, Karnup, Mandurah, Keysbrook, Pinjarra, Rockingham, Secret Harbour, Dwellingup, North Bannister and North Dandalup
❗ WHAT TO DO ❗
- If outside find safe shelter away from trees, powerlines, rivers, streams and storm water drains.
- Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
- Unplug electrical appliances and avoid using landline telephones if there is lightning.
- If there is flooding, create your own sandbags by using pillow cases filled with sand and place them around doorways to protect your home.
- Never walk, drive, ride, swim or play in floodwaters as they are dangerous.
- In areas prone to flash flooding, lift important things like furniture, clothing and valuables on to beds, tables and into your roof space if possible.
- To help protect you from debris in flooded water and mosquito-borne risks, make sure everyone in your family wears strong shoes like sneakers or boots and suitable long, loose fitting clothing.
- Storms and flash floods can impact power and water supplies, as well as telephone and internet connections, and access to cash, fuel and groceries.
If driving:
- Do not drive into water of unknown depth and current.
- Slow down, turn your lights on and keep a safe distance from other drivers.
- Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen powerlines and loose debris.
- If it is raining heavily and you cannot see, pull over and park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears.
⛈ WEATHER DETAILS ⛈
At 10/05/2024 17:50:00 the Bureau of Meteorology advised
at 5:50 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Dawesville, waters west of Dawesville, Karnup and waters west of Mandurah. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Mandurah, Keysbrook and Pinjarra by 6:20 pm and Rockingham, Secret Harbour, Dwellingup, North Bannister and North Dandalup by 6:50 pm.
